THE DRY --
Located adjacent to the Cornish Pump on Kent Street,
this historic sandstone building was built in the early 1920s
as a place for the miners to shower after their underground
shift at the Chapin Mine.  In recent years, the structure was renewed by
adding a new entrance, new roof, bathrooms, and kitchen area.

THE GLIDER PROJECT --  restoration of a WW II CG-4A Glider as
produced at Ford Motor Company in Kingsford is progressing
nicely.  Our donated Glider fuselage is being restored in Wausau
WI by volunteers of chapters of EAA in Wausau area.
THANKS to
U.P. Special Delivery who provided free transport of our
Glider fuselage to Wausau.
In Iron Mountain, volunteers built an
insulated temporary workshop in half of the Dry.  Special thanks to

Jacobson Heating & Air Conditioning
who donated a furnace to the
workshop which enables volunteers to work year-round.   Iron
Mountain Gas Co. also helped with parts.
 Scroll down for photos of
progress on the wings and tail sections being done in Iron
Mountain at the Dry by local volunteers.
Other aspects of the Glider exhibit will be oral histories.  Below is a
copy of a newspaper article showing videotaping and interviewing.
Above, at the hangar in Wausau, this was the beginning.
Above, this is the cleaned up steel tube frame of our donated
Glider fuselage.
Pictured left, at the Dry workshop in Iron Mountain,
progress on the tail section is shown.
